Our Green Environment
Green   Going green is no longer just an option, or a slogan to be taken lightly. When it comes to our planet, global warming is a major concern, and all environmental issues play a part in the energy we use and the greenhouse gases we produce. First and foremost, it is time for greener transportation choices. The League of Conservation Voters, which endorses me, has identified three solutions: green fleets, hybrid vehicle incentives and clean buses.

Jobs   I’ve been a voice for fiscally responsible government that respects the value of taxpayer dollars and provides economic opportunities for all residents. Education   Nothing is more important to our future and quality of life than providing an outstanding education for our kids. As a former school board member in Santa Clara County for eight years and father of four children who have all attended public schools, I have seen our education system first hand.

Juvenile Justice
 

One of the main reasons I’m running for Supervisor is my life long passion to help our young people, and one of my top priorities is working to reform the juvenile justice system in Santa Clara County. Parks & Open Space
Parks & Open Space   The five Santa Clara County Supervisors are stewards of a 45,000 acre parks and open space system that is one of the most diverse recreational areas in the State of California. Working with a dedicated Parks and Recreation Commission, and supported by the hard-working employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation, they oversee a beautiful array of trails, lakes, streams, urban and mountain parks, and open space. Transportation   One of the most immediate and critical issues facing Santa Clara County is transportation, not only in terms of traffic congestion, but also street pavement and striping, traffic signals and stop signs, streetlights, sidewalks, curbs and gutters.

Honest Government
Honest Government   Backroom deals and unparalleled access by lobbyists and special interests had become a plague at San Jose City Hall by the time I was first sworn in on the Council. You heard me at Council meetings, on radio, and television demanding ethical reform of our local government and the accountability by our elected officials.

Good government does not come from behind closed doors. Effective public policy doesn’t result from politicians who are grid locked by personality conflicts, or caught in a blame game. This is your government. You deserve to know what is going on. Read more>
